Bio

Eliane Lima involvement with images began in 1994 when she met the Brazilian philosopher Claudio Ulpiano. Lima holds the Bachelor of Arts Degree from SUNY Binghamton and the Masters of Arts from San Francisco Art Institute. Lima’s work has been shown at Liverpool Biennial (UK), SFMOMA (SF), Victoria Theater (SF), Anthology Film Archives (NY), Pacific Film Archives (SF), Brazil, Cuba, Canada, and elsewhere. During her SFAI years, she began to explore video-installations that have a relationship with her films. Her MFA installation “To George Kuchar,” participated in the ArtPad 2012 resulting in attention by the local press. Last summer, Lima was the visiting artist for the Summer Workshop in Cinema at the Creative Growth Art Center and collaborated in curating students films for the 2012 Telluride Film Festival. Lima also participated to the
Photovoice project at the Niroga Institute as photography instructor. Currently, Lima is working as teaching artist for Palo Alto Art Center, collaborating to Prelinger Archive and San Francisco Film Society ‘s Film House and Filmmakers in the Classroom Programs.

Lima was the recipient of SF Weekly Masterminds 2012.
